Dirty Noodle Ball • Saucy Finally tried Kokoro MazeSoba. Noodle Ball is bathed in the sauce created by the mentaiko cream bowl. I liked the thicker noodles in the umami rich and creamy sauce BUT I loved it once I added a dash of the Kombu enriched vinegar. It was brighter and more complex tasting with the addition of the acid. 2 minor issues - the raw garlic which was a bit overwhelming and I thought the bowl was over sauced (even with the added rice, still a bit too much liquid). It was a tasty but messy slurp. #mazesoba #mentaiko #noodleball #noodlesfordays #vancouvereats
Schnitzel • Since 1898 The Berghoff has been serving German food since 1898. Best ever? No but the pork was juicy despite being thin. My favourite was the fried spatzle, could have eaten a whole plate full of that. The Black Forest Cake was delicious and not too sweet. Last pic is a scanned pic of the postcard of the restaurant when it was en vogue for men to wear fedoras and trench coats, but the place still looks the same in 2019. #germanfood #schnitzel #spatzle #blackforestcake #chicagoeats
Shake Shack • A Smash I get why you get so much love, that patty was delicious. And who could say no to frozen custard with coffee, donuts and marshmallow? Also happy to be back in Chicago. #shakeshack #smashburger #frozencustard #tasty
SWEET PIEROGIES • Sour Cherry Ah what makes me the most happy is when I find traditional foods done well. Bonus when it’s something I’ve never had before like tangy #sourcherry sweet pierogies. Whole cherries inside - an extreme juicy dumpling, a slight XLB vibe. Snagged a potato and dill pierogy from my dining companion and very flavourful. The skin is thicker but has a nice chew. Very enjoyable. Look at all the baked snacks. Would recommend, can’t wait to come back to try more of the menu, especially the borscht and cabbage rolls. #pierogies #bakegoods #ukrainianfood #newwest #hiddengem
